Chapter 5.21 - Snippets of Chorus Lines

Extract from 'Quotable Quotes from Lionel Bart'
(the Society perform Lionel Bart's musical "OLIVER" in November 2002)

"I'll tell you straight, mate, if anything goes wrong on the stage tonight, I'm going to walk out of the theatre and wander around Leicester Square until it is all over" - prior to the opening night of "OLIVER"

"May the good Dickens forgive us" - to the audience at the first night of "OLIVER", following 23 curtain calls.

"It's very strange to be haunted by your past. Your songs are still being played, you're a clue in a crossword puzzle or you're mentioned on TV panel shows. Strange........."
