Comment by the editor of 'Snippet Pages'. I am glad to see that NODA, having identified the problem, has not, as yet, been so touchy as to remove the term 'Operatic' from their title. I am also encouraged to see that Peter, one of the editors of Chorus Lines', refers, in the Editorial of this edition, to 'any Amateur Musical/Operatic Society'.
It is a pity, however, that Dictionary definitions of these terms are not accepted by the writer of the above item from this, the 26th edition of Chorus Lines.
From the Concise Oxford Dictionary:
Amateur. - one who practices a thing (esp. an art or game) only as a pastime, esp. unpaid player etc. (opp. professional)
Opera - dramatic performance or composition of which music is an essential part.As the writer of of this comment, I am happy to divulge my name which also appears at the head of this page, RON DREW, unlike the writer of the above snippet from this quarter's edition of Chorus Lines.
As the SSAOS no longer exists this will be the last snippet of Chorus Lines.
