"THE DANDY FIFTH"
SSAOS 1929 production
Written by George R Simms
The music of Clarence Corri
SSAOS Production at Empire Theatre, South Shields, 18th - 23rd February, 1929
George R Sims' name as a writer of Drury Lane drama was one to conjure with, and is a present guarantee of proper construction, sureness of characterisation and richness of comedy, such as carries along the audience irresistibly with it. The necessary adjunct of sentiment is equally well delineated, as is only to be expected from such a master craftsman.
But it is the charming freshness of Clarence Corri's music which is amazing after a lapse of 25 years.
"It wears well" is a misnomer: it hasn't worn at all
