SAOS 1934 production (2)
Written by W S Gilbert
The music of Arthur S Sullivan
SSAOS Production at Majestic Theatre, Pier Approach, 27th November - 1st December, 1934
This was to be the second Society production in 1934 (see "ROSE MARIE" Feb. 1934) In future years the February/March time continued to be the date of production It was not until after the 1939 war that the Autumn date became the time for the yearly production. It is interesting to note several differences between the two productions , which seem to suggests that it it was hastily produced. The first 1934 production was in the new home of the Amateurs - the Queens, the second in the much smaller 'converted ballromm' - the Majestic. The producer and musical director were not those of many previous productions, and the programme had about a tenth the number of pages of that for the earlier 1934 production. It contained no photographs of any of the cast.
