In the programme notes, the editor states - 'This production of "Rio Rita" is acknowledged to be the finest that has ever been sent to this country. The scenes are something to marvel at. The beautiful stage setting and lighting are the zenith of stage craft. Haunting melodies, delightful singing, captivating dancing, with gorgeous moonlight Ballet, crowns "Rio Rita's" splendour.
'The story of "Rio Rita" is founded more or less on fact. It concerns a certain elusive Bandit named Kinkajou, which in Mexico means "Wild Cat. Although a terror to the Mexican people, they cannot but admire his reckless daring. During one of his exploits he robs a bank and gets away with the booty.
'The story takes place in Mexico with with all the thrill of Bandits, Texas Rangers, Misunderstanding and Romance. Many of the characters are under suspicion of being the Kinkajou, the chief one being Rira's brother Roberto, who is accused of being the thief by General Esteban. The General promises Rira that no harm shall come to Roberto, the condition being that Rita marries him.
'Rita, however has a lover named Jim, captain of the Texas Rangers. Jim, at running the risk of his own life, eventually finds enough proof to be able to arrest the real culprit.'
