"THE BOY FRIEND"
SSAOS Junior 1991 production
When "The Boy Friend" was first produced by the Juniors in 1981 the character Marcel was played by Philip Meeks: in the 1991 production Bobby van Husen is played by his brother Dale Meeks. The two brothers were later to become involved in the professional theatre.
In 1981 Graham Overton played Lord Brockhurst, whilst in this years production one of the pupils of Madam Dubinnet, Dulcie, is played by Sara Overton.
The Junior productions always have the assistance of some of the Senior team and in both 1981 and 1991 the Musical Associate was Maurice Powell, who did such sterling work on the piano at rehearsals. In 1981 the Stage Manager was Harry Halliday who became the Assistant Stage Manager in 1991 to Alan Hogarth, brought in by Harry to train as Stage Manager with the Juniors.
