Because Ray Spencer, the producer, had a cast of 40 youngsters between the ages of 10 and 18, he played up the comedy and played down the melodrama, something which won the approval of Nic Kirby of Kirby Flying Ballet who was flying the principals. Nic feels that slapstick would have appealed to Peter Pan's creator, - and he should know: - his grandfather worked with J M Barrie on the original production.
