Chapter 1.4 - Grosvenor Singers

This group was formed about 1970 by Stewart (Stew) Blenkinsop mainly comprising members of the SSAOS. It gave charitable concerts to raise funds for various charities in the town and often entertained residents in homes around the town. Another feature was the annual 'Christmas Carol Sing' around many streets in the area and was enjoyed by hostelries and  many friends they visited as well as their neighbours.

They made a half hour recording at the Newcastle Friends Meeting House for broadcasting by BBC Radio Newcastle in 1971
